Allow me to confidently highlight the key differences between Pi and ChatGPT. Pi is specifically designed to foster natural and empathetic conversations, while ChatGPT utilizes a vast database. Additionally, Pi takes a more approachable and humorous approach, while ChatGPT tends to maintain a more formal tone.

🌔 Output Quality

🔹 ChatGPT: ChatGPT provides high-quality information that's professional and almost identical to that of a smart human.

ChatGPT can output long-form answers up to ~300 words or so, and accept long-form prompts from the user in the range of thousands of words.

🔹 PI: Pi is a highly interactive and inquisitive chatbot, known for its penchant for asking questions and steering the conversation. Its responses are often infused with a playful flair, utilizing emojis and humorous quips. However, don't be fooled - Pi is also capable of engaging in deep and meaningful discussions.

Pi’s output is no longer than two short paragraphs and user input is limited to 1000 characters – much shorter than ChatGPT. Pi is also much stronger than ChatGPT when asked about recent events, even with Bing integrated into GPT, Pi seems to do a better job here.

🌖 User Interface

🔹 ChatGPT: ChatGPT's user-friendly GUI helps you achieve communication goals with ease. Initiate fresh conversations, delete outdated ones, and create code snippets and tables effortlessly.

🔹 PI: Pi has an aesthetic user interface with basic functionality. Currently, Pi is text-only and can’t generate tables and separate code boxes.

🌔 Speed

Both ChatGPT and Pi generate responses at a similar rate which is fast enough to not be a problem and allows the conversation to flow at a nice pace.

🌖 Coding

🔹 ChatGPT: ChatGPT is renowned for its coding capabilities and is able to write and understand a variety of programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, and Java. ChatGPT can provide code snippets, troubleshoot, and explain programming concepts.

🔹 PI: Currently, Pi can only code in Python, and doesn’t provide code snippets. I asked Pi to write some C code and after saying it could, got stuck in a weird loop of telling jokes and emojis.

🌔 Ethics

🔹 ChatGPT: OpenAI has come under fire for ‘stealing’ user data to train its large language models. There’s even a class action lawsuit being filed against OpenAI on the matter.

🔹 PI: According to the Inflection website, Pi is taught using publicly available web data, as well as their own proprietary sources of data. Learning from OpenAI’s mistakes it looks like Inflection is trying to avoid any possible lawsuits in this area.

🌖 Pricing

🔹 ChatGPT: GPT4 is $20 per month and GPT3.5 is free.

🔹 Pi: Pi is currently free with the Inflection website stating “Today, Pi is free to use. We have not made any decisions about how we may charge for the product in the future.” Whether Inflection decides to use a paid subscription or paid ads model is yet to be determined.

Although ChatGPT remains the reigning champion of chatbots, Inflection's successful capital raise and the impressive capabilities of the Pi chatbot suggest that OpenAI is facing some stiff competition.

In fact, I've been using Pi instead of ChatGPT for the past few days.
